糸　(Ito) means thread.

糸　the letter form looks like spinning machine.

Spinning is 紡績 (bo seki).

紡 (Bo or Tsumugi)　is making thread.

積 (Seki) is many meaning. stuck, place on , and mass.

繊維(sen i), these letters mean fiber.

絹 (kinu) is silk.

綿(men) is cotton.

紐(himo) is string

組(kumi) is tag or group or team.

絞(shibori) is squeeze

編纂(hen san) is editing. The under part of the right letter is　糸.

(Sometimes, computer font is made original easy form like this example.)

紺(kon) is navy blue.

紫(murasaki) is violet colour.

Probably these colours are used to paint textiles, so the letters also include 糸 part.
