This letter means tree.

林

Being doubled of it , which means Woods.

森

And one more, this means forest. lol

So, 木 means wood, you can see the letter attaching 木,

柱　Hashira,  this is column. (many houses in asia use wooden column)

机   Tsukue, this is desk. (Desk is made by wood)

枯   Kare, this means withering. (Tree is withering.)

Both called Enoki, the mushroom is correctly called Enoki fungi, but it grooms below Celtis sinensis. That is why same name. And Enoki means the mushroom in general.

楓　Kaede, maple, the Canadian tree.

By the way, Right side letter is meaning Wind, the inventor of this letter felt wind when look maple leaves.

Irregular ones

杏　Anzu, this is prum. 口 this means mouth. maybe because prum is edible.

栗　Kuri, this is marron.
